Gran Canaria Way

The Gran Canaria Way is considered a Jacobean route because the island was granted papal plenary indulgences associated with the veneration of Saint James, owing to the difficulty that residents faced in making the pilgrimage to Compostela. This status stems from the island's deep-rooted devotion to the Apostle James, expressed through pilgrimages to the parish churches of Galdar and Tunte.

The Gran Canaria Way traverses the island from south to north, stretching from Maspalomas to Galdar, with the town of San Bartolome de Tirajana (Tunte) serving as a key waypoint. The route is highly mountainous, reflecting the island's rugged terrain, and offers stunning scenery with the Atlantic Ocean constantly in the background.

For obvious reasons, the Gran Canaria Way is the only Spanish Jacobean route not included in the Metro Map of the Caminos de Santiago on the Iberian Peninsula. Consequently, a dedicated Metro Map has been created specifically for the Canary Islands, featuring a Metro Chart representation of this route.

The Metro Map of the Ways of Saint James in the Canary Islands and the Metro Chart of the Gran Canaria Way are designed to be printed as a 73x30 cm poster. Those interested may contact Cool Hispania via email at info@coolhispania.com.
